5/7/2023 0 Comments Quiet book![]() ![]() The template for the tying the laces page also comes from the downloadable book. Here are the final two pages of the quiet book… I just printed a picture of a flower that I googled for the flower puzzle. Here are the 3 puzzles I created for this page. Here is a link to the page that inspired me: puzzle page. The puzzle page has a zipper on the bottom as well to store the puzzle pieces inside the pocket. This is what they look like when they’re attached to the page… The shapes on the page and the shape pieces have velcro on them so that they can be attached to the page. Notice the zipper on the bottom, it’s a pocket to store the shapes. I made my own shapes in Microsoft Word for this page. There’s clear plastic sewn into the middle of the door so that you can see the socks inside when it’s closed. As you can see below, I added 3 pieces of velcro around the opening to the washer to make sure socks didn’t slip out. The pattern for this page can be found here. The socks are stored in the washing machine but can be pulled out to be matched to the socks on the other page. The chicken and the pig even have tails in the back and the cow has an extra spot on its back as well. ![]() ![]() I used a glue gun for some of the details because they were too tiny to sew on. Here are the finger puppet! There’s a chicken, a chick, a horse, a cow and a pig. A sewed the bottom of the strip of felt in order to create a pocket for the animals to fit into. ![]() The pattern for the barn and finger puppets was also included in the downloadable book. When you take the pieces out of the bucket, you can create all kinds of different looks with the felt body parts! The template for this page was also included in the downloadable book. The dots can be removed and stored inside the ladybug thanks to the zipper in the middle of the body. This is a great activity for developing fine motor skills.Īs you can see, I put snap buttons on the ladybug page. I left an opening at the top of the pot so that the pedals can be stored inside the pot. Here are the next pages in the quiet book…įor both pages I used the templates from the downloaded book. For the flower page, my machine has a setting for buttons so I used that to sew the buttons on and to make the button holes. I also added velcro on the corner of the last vertical and horizontal strips to keep the pattern in place once the strips have all been weaved. I cut 5 strips of pink felt and 7 strips of green felt. Finally I sewed the numbers and letters onto the strips.įor the weaving page, I used the template from the blog mentioned above. Then I sewed the ribbons to the page and covered both ends of the ribbons with two strips of felt. Here are the first two pages of the quiet book…įor the counting pages, I cut out ten even pieces of ribbon and slipped beads onto them. I downloaded the free templates on the page, printed them out on regular paper, pinned them to the felt and cut out the pieces. Here is a link to the blog from which I got many of the templates for my quiet book pages. Once your pages are cut, you are ready to start creating your activity pages. I recommend making your pages about the same size maybe 1″ bigger or smaller but this is a good size to allow enough space to play on each page. The first step to creating a quiet book is to cut out the pages. My template measures 11″ x 11″. We speak French and English in our home but of course you can write on the pages in whatever language you like! (or not write anything at all) As I’ve said in a previous post, if you decide to create a quiet book for your own kids, the most important things you need, other than a sewing machine, are lots and lots of patience and persistence! As I said in my previous post, I am by no means a master sewer! I saw quiet books on Pinterest, decided I had to make one, bought a sewing machine and taught myself to sew using You Tube and my very rusty skills from Junior High Industrial Arts courses. Did you have a quiet book when you were a kid? I didn’t, but when I came across them on Pinterest, I knew that I wanted my kids to have one! These books are perfect for long car rides, plane rides or just for keeping kids busy at home. ![]()
